State Buildings has completed a comprehensive accessibility upgrade program across their entire portfolio, ensuring that heritage spaces are welcoming and accessible to all members of the community regardless of physical ability.

Inclusive Heritage Spaces

The upgrades include installation of discreet wheelchair ramps and lifts, accessible bathroom facilities, improved wayfinding signage with braille and tactile elements, hearing loops in public spaces, and redesigned entrances that maintain heritage character while providing step-free access. All improvements were designed in consultation with accessibility advocates and approved by heritage authorities.

This project demonstrates that heritage conservation and inclusive design are not mutually exclusive, and that historic buildings can be adapted to serve contemporary needs while preserving their cultural significance.
